چکیده

Research-oriented tasks continue to become more complex, requiring more collaboration between experts. Historically, research has focused on either finding a single expert for a specific task (expertise finding, or EF), or trying to form a group that satisfies various conditions (group formation, or GF). EF is typically group context agnostic, while GF requires complex models that are difficult to automate. This paper focuses on the union of these two, forming groups of experts. We concentrate in this paper on the expertise aspect of group formation, since without the needed expertise, regardless of other factors, the task can not be accomplished. Our proposed model, CAFE (Collaboration Aimed at Finding Experts), is a data-driven approach, easy to construct and dynamic with respect to the data. More specifically, we address the problem of finding a group of experts for a given task (research paper) by utilizing the data inherent to citation graphs.

Taxonomy-Driven Expertise Aggregation on Bibliographic Data

Finding relevant experts is essential for collaboration. Many Expert Finder applications succeed in finding experts, only at coarse levels of granularity, and within specific domains. Finding experts at fine granularity however, is often needed for effective functioning. Semantics can refine the granularity at which the expertise of various experts can be determined, by explicitly expressing re...

SEMEF: A Taxonomy-Based Discovery of Experts, Expertise and Collaboration Networks

Finding relevant experts in research is often critical and essential for collaboration. Semantics can be useful in this process. In particular, a taxonomy of Computer Science topics, together with an ontology of publications can be glued through explicit relationships from papers to one or more topics. These paper-totopics relationships, extracted from paper abstracts and keywords are valuable ...

The Effect of Fuel Economy Standards on Vehicle Weight Dispersion and Accident Fatalities

The firm response to regulation is seldom as controversial as in the context of fuel economy standards, a dominant policy to reduce emissions from vehicles worldwide. It has long been argued that such standards lead to vehicle weight changes that increase accident fatalities. Using unconditional quantile regression, we are the first to document the effect of the Corporate Average Fuel Economy (...

Fuel Economy Standards Versus a Gasoline Tax

Proponents of increasing corporate average fuel economy (CAFE) standards for passenger vehicles see the policy as a relatively low cost and proven way to decrease the United States’ dependence on oil and emissions of carbon dioxide (the predominant greenhouse gas). Opponents argue that CAFE standards are a costly and cumbersome way to reduce gasoline consumption, that they interfere with the ma...
